Hello! My name is Matt Young, your Chicago Web Guru (CWG). I am a local, Chicago-based web developer with over six years of professional experience. I am certified through the World Wide Web Consortium in HTML, XHTML, and CSS, and l love designing custom WordPress themes!

WordPress is an open source web publishing software that is ideal for small-businesses, churches, non-profits, individuals, entertainers, musicians and bands. WordPress is also known as a content management system (CMS). Put plainly, it is a system for managing your website’s content: page content, blog posts, podcasts, multimedia, email lists, eblast newsletters, and more!

My Web Story

Aside from my career in web design and development, I also play upright and electric bass and have been a professional performer and band leader for over twelve years. In 2006, with an entrepreneurial spirit, I designed a website for my band, The Matt Young Group, and put it out there on the world wide web. I decided to focus on the wedding and corporate event markets with my website content, and looked at competitors as a source of inspiration. Although, it took me two years to make it to the first page of Google, due to my limited SEO (search engine optimization) knowledge, I’m proud to say that in 2009 my band generated over $125,000 in revenue.

My secret…optimize for Google searches! Over 80% of my new clients, in both fields find me on Google. Like it or not, when people are looking for a service, nine times out of ten they are going to use Google. You can take your small business to the next level by refining your website’s focus, optimizing your website for Google searches and using marketing tools like Google AdWords.
